Theoretically...

Wed May 6, 2009, 6:30 PM
Theoretically things were supposed to slow down after Christmas.
Guess what?
They haven't.
I suppose things never really will "slow down" so it's up to me to stop and take the time for myself to do the things I want to do. 90% of my art work and art supplies is currently packed up and scattered in boxes across my boyfriend's house. I've been promised a dedicated "art room" but the earliest I'll get it is in the fall.
This next 2-3 weeks are the final crunch for moving out of the apartment, and I don't really anticipate any art work being finished between now and then.
I did come up with a random sketch of a new character though, and I'd happily post it except for the fact my scanner isn't easily accessible at the moment.

So how about I promise to start being more proactive with my art starting June 1st?
No more excuses!

A pysanka (Ukrainian: писанка, plural: pysanky) is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated using a wax-resist (batik) method. The word comes from the verb pysaty, "to write", as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax.

Do you use one of those egg holder thingamajiggies?..a lathe? yes a lathe! Your lines are so straight! No matter what I do, and how straight I think my lines might be, they are always all over the place. I am latheless.
:icondaisyodd:
Heheh. I'm afraid that I'm latheless as well. The lines are done by hand!
:icontk3point5:
Well that's just insane!

Great eggs! Your work is so precise and beautiful.

Thank you very much!

Your work is absolutely amazing!! How long does it typically take you to finish off an ostrich egg?

Thank you! It really depends on the design of the egg. I'd have to guess 20-50 hours approximately. It's pretty hard to keep track of time!
:iconpiratewolfblade:
Goodness! That's quite amazing though. That kind of work must take so much patience.

Hi!
I've recently finished another ostrich egg that I've donated to a local fund-raising event. Hopefully I can get some pictures up soon!
